About Us

Pill & District Memorial Club was founded in memory of those killed or maimed in the first and second world wars. We are a not-for-profit business set up to serve social, charitable, community-based or other non-commercial objectives. We retain any surplus income for reinvestment into improvements to the club or use it to promote the non-profit objectives of the business. The club is run by both staff and dedicated committee members.

We are situated in the heart of Pill, just 5 minutes from Junction 19 of the M5, approximately 7.5 miles from Bristol City Centre and 3 miles from Portishead. There is ample on site parking and bus stops directly outside of the club where the X4 bus service runs 7 days a week.

The club offers a wide range of entertainment and facilities to both members and non-members.

We have 4 bars within the club with a good selection of both non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks at very competitive prices. Our newly installed Carlsberg quality dispensing system will ensure the perfect cool pint every time.

The club boasts several rooms including a Members Bar, Main Hall with a large dance floor, an Upstairs Lounge, Games & TV Rooms, Skittle Alley and a Kitchen all available to hire for regular or one-off events.

We hope that our website will give you a feel for our club, but nothing beats actually having a look around. So if you’re not already a member, why not pop in when you’re next passing and have a word with our friendly staff, who will be more than happy to show you around.

We hold regular events at Pill Memorial Club such as Skittles, Cribbage, Bingo, Karaoke and Circuits as well as hosting special events such as gin/rum tastings, live bands, quiz nights and children’s discos – there really is something for everyone! Take a look at our events page to see what’s on

History

Keswick House, now known as Pill & District Memorial Club was originally built in 1830 as the private residence of the Hall family. The Hall family also owned the adjoining premises ‘Hall’s Brewery’, that was taken over by ‘Georges Brewery’ before becoming a commercial business park.

Keswick House was sold by its original owners, the Hall family in 1942 to two of the village doctors. The British Legion then went on to purchase it in 1949 and sold it in 1955 to the original founders of Pill & District Memorial Club when it was converted for use as a private members club in memory of those killed or maimed in the two world wars.

The addition of the skittle alley was completed in 1967, then the dance hall was built in 1975 along with further works over the years to expand the club.
